The Brotherhood of Bluegrass: The Cerny Brothers!

In a city so obsessed with image and filled with synthetic sounds, it’s refreshing to see (and hear) that there is still a place  for a genre of music that has withstood the test of time while managing to evolve into something much bigger than ever imagined. The Bluegrass Situation plays a major role in providing a home to true Folk/Americana music and last nights show was proof that there is still pure, genuine roots music being made.

The Cerny Brothers (pronounced SIR-KNEE) brought the brotherhood of bluegrass alive tonight with the premiere of their music video “Ohio”, which features their good friend Matt, whose birthday was celebrated with a “Happy Birthday” sing-along Bluegrass style while cookies were distributed to a large,  enthusiastic audience who happily joined in the occasion. The evening also served as a kick-off for The Cerny Brothers first night of their April residency here. With a set list that included “Don’t Run” and “I want you to run” (the irony of the song-titles was not lost…The Cerny Brothers certainly seem like gentleman who understand the conflicting nature of life, love & humanity) as well as “Darling” and of course “Ohio”. the video was made live today via Daytrotter-a website that serves as an outlet for Horseshack, a Midwest  recording studio located in Illinois that gives voice to many popular and up-and-coming artists such as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, The Avett Brothers, Dr. Dog, and Beach House (to name a few).

Watch it Here NOW:

The Dustbowl Revival closed out the evening and made sure to celebrate April Fools Day by announcing their tour with Bob Dylan & Old Crow Medicine Show-though they are not actually touring with Dylan & OCMS, they are getting ready to set out on tour soon and adding them to Dylan’s or Old Crow Medicine Shows upcoming tour wouldn’t be that far-fetched!

The Cerny Brothers will also be here:

April 15: Tickets $10

(The Cerny Brothers will be performing Weezer’s Blue Album in it’s entirety tonight)!

April 29: Tickets $10

May 13: Tickets $10

Thank you to everyone who came out last night, we hope to see you all again soon!
