This Week @ The Mint: Alejandro Escovedo, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Phil Celia, Elisa Grace & more!

As one of LA’s most historic music venues, we proudly present another week of live performances by some of the finest musicians you’ve ever seen!

Monday: Hunnypot Radio Presents: DJ Shane Carpenter, Black Belt KARATE, Adult Cinema & House for Lions

Our first Monday night of November hosted by Hunnypot Radio will feature both DJ sets by Shane Carpenter and live performances that will be sure to start a dance party! Los Angeles based band Black Belt KARATE is “More exotic than the future.  Progressive, punk-infused, swaggering rock ‘n’ roll born from Chuck Norris’ tears.” Adult Cinema-another LA based band described as ‘The Clash meets The Revolution will also be performing, along with the Alternative band House of Lions all the way from Winchester, London! Come out and support music from near and far at The Mint…  did we mention it’s FREE?

HUNNYPOT

Tuesday: Vincenzo Thomas Amato, Jordan Maroko, Phil Celia, Romeo Testa & Cavity Comedy!

Vincenzo Thomas Amato is a Los Angeles born solo artist with music in his blood. His music style is said to be a mix of Dave Matthews, Tom Waits & Eddie Vedder and he has been seen jamming ‘Roadhouse Blues’ with The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger! Phil Celia will be debuting his new album ‘Circus Town’ tonight-an album created in homage to his new home near LA. Jordan Maroko-who has been writing music since the tender age of ten-presents a pop-oriented alternative-rock. 18-year old Romeo Testa will be kicking off the evening with his soulful blend of bluesy-rock.

We will also have Cavity Comedy in the backroom hosted by Julia Reiss featuring Jade Catta-Preta, Mark Serritella, Lauren Brenner, Andy Haynes, Benji Aflalo, Stephanie Simbari and SARAH SILVERMAN-this show will be sure to give your abs a good old fashioned workout with all the laughing you’ll be doing!

Wednesday: Madison Wiesler, Hotel Cinema, Debbie Neigher & Jaden Larue

Madison Wiesler will be starting out the evening with both her original compositions as well as some covers. Madison recently relocated to Los Angeles from Green Bay, Wisconsin to share her music with the city of angels!

The second show of the night will feature Hotel Cinema-an LA based band who emerged into the music scene after their self-titled debut was released in January of this year. Their alluring melodies, intricate orchestrations and clever blend of electronic and organic elements are sure to present a uniquely crafted live experience. Debbie Neigher will be preceding Hotel Cinema. This Humanitarian Musician spent eleven days in Telephone Recording Studio with John Vanderslice collaborating with the Magik*Magik Orchestra to produce her self-titled debut album in July 2011-“a lush, beautifully scored album on par with those of her personal icons Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple.” The Vocals-Guitar-Ukulele-Piano-Egg shaker extraordinaire Jaden Larue will be opening the night.

Thursday: The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants, Hang Dog Expression

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band returns to The Mint this Thursday with their hi-energy country blues. With their blues album ‘Between The Ditches’ hitting number 1 on the ITunes music chart, their use of washboards, bottleneck slides and five-gallon buckets, these guys are sure to get your hands clapping! Preceding RPBDB will be Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants-fronted by Foo Fighters lead guitarist Chris Shiflett who departed from his Rock/punk background to pursue this Country/Rockabilly/Americana sound. Opening the night will be Hang Dog Expression.

Friday: Alejandro Escovedo & the Sensitive Boys and Amy Cook + Ticket Giveaway!

Music pioneer Alejandro Escovedo will be headlining at The Mint this Friday night. With 35 years under his belt as a musician and two decades as a solo artist. Escovedo is dubbed as being “in his own genre” by Rolling Stone Magazine. His most recent album ‘Big Station’ was produced by Tony Visconti-who has also worked with well renowned  David bowie, T-Rex & Thin Lizzy! His former band The Nuns also opened for The Sex Pistols in San Francisco in 1978. Needless to say, Alejandro Escovedo & the Sensitive boys is a legendary act that you will want to add to the list of those that you have witnessed. Amy Cook, who will be opening up the evening, has a history with LA’s Hotel Café. Her songs have been heard in hit TV shows such as Dawson’s Creek, Veronica Mars, The L Word and Laguna Beach.

Saturday: Mary Gauthier, Jackson Tanner & Karen Reed

Karen Reed will be opening the evening-using her thoughtful writing, deceptively simple style to make you feel like you are the only person in the room while she sings her pop/folk and blues songs.

Our second show of the evening includes Mary Gauthier headlining with her emotionally staggering songs which reach into the depths of the soul and extracting the truths that are within. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Her 2005 album ‘Mercy Now’ earned her the titled of Americana Music Association’s New/Emerging Artist of the Year and her 2011 album ‘The Foundling’ was named #3 record of the year by The Los Angeles Times. Her music has been praised by the likes of Bob  Dylan and Tom Waits. Los Angeles based contemporary country music style band Jackson Tanner will be supporting Gauthier.

Sunday: Elisa Grace, Adam Levy, Angeles Flight, Professor Shoals & Jacaranda Red

Elisa Grace is a Singer/Songwriter from Chicago whose musical style is influenced by 70’s radio, blues, rock & country. Adam Levy is a folk/pop/blues artist best known for his 7 year stint as featured guitarist in Norah Jones’ Handsome band as well as being the penman Norah Jones song “In The Morning”.  Both Grace & Levy are working on an EP set to release on Nashville’s Nine North Records in 2014.

Our second show of the evening will include Los Angeles based bands Angeles Flight, Professor Shoals and Jacaranda Red. Angeles Flight sets themselves up as artists, using Rock as their easel & jazz, funk, fusion, hip-hop and anything else they find suiting as their colors, which they cleverly blend together with their soulful paintbrush. they also like to fuel the fire with Tacos (which you can enjoy with them at The Mint by trying our Steak or Blackened Fish Tacos)! Supporting Angeles Flight will be Indie PBR&B Rock band Professor Shoals and the timeless sounding Jacaranda Red, who are influenced by music such as Tame Impala.
