Mike Dillon is hard to categorize, but you could call his music punk-jazz. Dillon is a vibraphonist/percussionist/vocalist who has been on the grind for 20 years. He mixes the bizarreness of Les Clay Pool with the jazz fluency of Milt Jackson and punk inspiration of Iggy Pop. The music is multi-dimensional and Dillon’s live shows are certainly a sight to be seen….and heard.

The six-man, one-woman band, The Defibulators, open the night with their mélange of bluegrass, country, and honky tonk.

Tickets $8

Thursday: We have two shows for you tonight! For the early show, Tabla player, Aloke Dutta, returns for a truly one of a kind show not to be found at any other night club in LA! Aloke is probably the only professional tabla player who plays tabla solo exclusively. Aloke has trained drummers such as Danny Carey (Tool) and Terry Bozio (Frank Zappa).

For the Late show, we bring to you Funkyjenn and the Fringe Benefits. This band is a chugging rock and soul machine that harkens back to a day when live studio recording, analog machines, and the smell of pressed vinyl ruled the Sunset Strip. Funkyjenn has performed in front of thousands at the Hollywood Bowl and has lent her voice to such projects as The Mighty Stef and Scott Mellis. Guitarist/singer- songwriter, Jason Daniels, will support.

Tickets $10

Friday: Surge Events Presents: Beautiful Things, No Small Children, Midnight Race Card, 2 the Nines, and Gone by Sunrise. Midnight Race Card will healdine the night with their fusion of alternative rock and hip-hop.

Saturday: Louisiana born, Tony Joe White, is truly part of America’s musical landscape. He wrote “Steamy Windows” for Tina Turner in the 80s, he toured with Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, and he’s been covered by Elvis, twice. Don’t miss Tony this Saturday!

Tony will be supported by singer/songwriter/guitarist/pianist Charlie Green. Legendary producer Phil Ramone had this to say about Charlie:

“Charlie Greene is truly a joy to watch perform, and his compositions apply a keen sense of musicality, humor, discovery, and intellect….His will be a career that will be fun to watch unfold.”

The Barrelhouse Kings will also join the bill.

Sunday: The Grateful Dead cover band, Cubensis, will perform. Cubensis authentically celebrates the Grateful Dead concert experience. Just like the good ole’ Grateful Dead, this band plays a wondrous amalgam of blues, country, jazz, electronic, and rock music, all in the space of about three hours on stage. Come down to the Mint to relive the magic that is The Grateful Dead live.
