This Week @ The Mint: Houndmouth, Bluegrass Situation, Show Ponies LP Release + Ticket Giveaways

We’ve got another big week at The Mint! We take a week off from our residency with The Dustbowl Revival (recently named LA Weekly’s “Best Live Band”) to welcome on-the-rise folker’s Houndmouth this Wednesday. We’re also stomping boots to The Bluegrass Situation this Thursday and Friday. Scroll down for ticket giveaways!

Houndmouth this Wednesday 10pm – Tickets $13/$16

Tonight: As can be expected for two Mondays out of every month, Hunnypot Radio returns to The Mint for their weekly live broadcast featuring industry professionals, artists and songwriters, discussions on the latest music trends, and of course, live performances! For more info go here.

Tuesday: Two shows are going down: In the backroom “Den,” the Cavity Comedy show returns with comedians Ed Greer, Mark Cohen, Jamar Neighbor, Erik Marino, Dinah Leffert, and Paul Danke. In the main room, prepare your self for some old-timey American string band music with Portland Oregon’s Foghorn Stringband. They’ll take the stage after an opening set from Los Angeles’ own, Triple Chicken Foot. For tickets + info go here.

Wednesday: We’re welcoming festival stalwarts Houndmouth on their only LA stop this headlining tour. They’ve opened for big names like The Drive-By Truckers, The Lumineers, The Alabama Shakes, Lucero, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and we’re welcoming this rising band to The Mint for the first time. Houndmouth will be joined by Andrew Combs, a  songwriter, guitarist, and singer from Nashville, let’s show them a good first time! Check out what Mother Jones has to say about Houndmouth here and watch their performance from last year’s SXSW…

For tickets + info to Houndmouth go here.

Thursday: Come down and enjoy a night of Bluegrass music with The Bluegrass Situation Presents: The Barefoot Movement, Austin Lucas, and Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires. Headliner Lee, Bains, brings his punk-a-fied version of southern music all the way from Birmingham Alabama to Los Angeles! For tickets + info go here.

Friday: For the lovers of mandolins, fiddles, and banjos, The Bluegrass Situation Presents: Brothers Comatose, Punch-Drunks, and Onward. San Francisco’s Brothers Comatose are known for their communal shows that include lots of singing, dancing, foot tapping and overall crowd participation. Don’t be surprised if the band hands out chopsticks for the crowd to get percussive with! For tickets + info go here.

Saturday: Los Angeles’ very own The Show Ponies are throwing their Album Release Party! They will share the stage with The Well Pennies, Natalie Nicoles, and Moonsville Collective. For tickets + info go here.

Sunday: The Mint continues to showcase local Hip-hop with Quiz. Quiz is something special and we think he’ll fit right in with our regular crowd of music-lovers. Quiz’s single, “Just Do Me” says it all. His music is fresh and uniquely his own. Upon first listen, it is evident that Quiz makes the music that HE wants to make and isn’t concerned with what others are doing. For tickets + info go here.
