On Thursday night (9/19/13), blues-guitar powerhouse, Philip Sayce, returns to the Mint.  Sayce, who lived in Wales, UK until he was two, channels the British blues masterminds he grew up listening to. Such influences include Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Mark Knopfler. But that’s not to say that American rockers like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan didn’t influence Sayce’s style as well.

On the topic of his latest album Steamroller, Sayce concluded, “The themes of this album are power, strength, belief, self-confidence, re-birth, inspiration and the dedication to break barriers.” However, the themes of Steamroller, undoubtedly work their way into Sayce’s live performance as well. His performances are all raw feeling, power, and passion. Sayce becomes the center of his music, becoming fully intertwined in the present moment. His performances succeed at portraying the strength, belief, and inspiration that fueled him to write the songs in the first place.  Sayce’s live show will impress the most devoted blues lovers and will drop the jaws of music lovers of all kinds.

At 10:30, following Sayce’s performance, the talented CeCe Sherman and Jason Sinay will hit the stage for some folk, blues, and good ol’ rock n’ roll.
